Summary of Events

Plans to repeat the 1982 Hama Massacre in Homs have been confirmed. During the past two weeks, the regime armed all the Alawite neighbourhoods, brought in hundreds of tanks and armoured units, and dug tunnels around the revolting neighbourhoods – many people believe the tunnels have been filled up with gas and toxic material to create an inescapable barrier but that has not been confirmed yet. The regime also brought in fifteen containers last night at 1am under the cover of heavy fire to keep prying eyes away. Electricity was also cut off from the neighbourhoods where the containers were brought through. Many believe the containers contain weapons brought in with the shipment of missiles and tanks the Russian fleet unloaded in Lattakia, while others believe they are there to be loaded with the corpses of the fallen and dumped in the sea, similar to what happened in Raml Janubi in Lattakia. Similar to what it did in Deir Azzour, the regime also bombed an oil pipe in Homs this morning to legitimatize its invasion. There were many reports conveyed via regime insiders in the past week stating that Assad ordered his forces to use all necessary means to end all forms of opposition in the country within 72 hours.

In Hama, security forces vacated a seven-storey building overlooking three neighbourhoods and packed it with snipers and heavy machinegun turrets, while surrounding it with checkpoints. Later, 50 to 60 tanks were brought in from the north, and around 20 from Hama Airport road.

The Arab Human Rights Organization called on the Jordanian Foreign Ministry to intervene to protect Jordanian drivers working the Amman-Damascus line, as regime forces regularly subject drivers to humiliating searches, physical assaults, verbal attacks and unreasonable hardships.

Security forces killed at least thirteen civilians today, launched an arbitrary arrests campaign in Tayba in Daraa, started opening live fire at school children demonstrations in Deir Azzour, installed surveillance cameras downtown Damascus in Maidan, intensified their presence remarkably in Damascus, and shelled the cities of Marat Noman and Khan Shykhoun in Idlib with heavy artillery.

In Homs, security forces shelled and fired heavy machinegun rounds in the neighbourhoods of Inshaat, Baba Amr, Waar, Karm Zaytoun, Bayada, Deir Baalba, Jorat Shayah, and Ghouta. Assad’s forces and militias also raided the neighbourhoods of Qosur and Bayada, and the cities of Houleh and Qasir with tanks and armoured units. As usual, night demonstrations broke out in the neighbourhoods of Deir Baalba, Bayada, Khaldiya, Inshaat, Ghouta, Hamra, Baba Amr, Jorat Arayes, Hay Shammas, Bab Houd, Bab Draib, Bab Sebaa, Waar, Qosur, Karm Shami, and Karm Zaytoun; and the cities and villages of Houleh, Palmyra, Qasir, and Qaryatain.
